Year 8 visits the interactive Science Roadshow where highlights included potato guns, wind turbines, and a bed of nails.
“The science roadshow was a great experience and there were lots of interesting and fun exhibits,” said one Year 8 student after the trip. Judging by the buzz, the whole kura agreed.
Some standout favourites were the bridge-building challenge, the wind turbine, and the unforgettable bed of nails. These were all interactive stations that made learning feel like play. “These were all interactive and cool inventions and were a great way to learn about science.”
The big finale was a live demonstration of how to make a potato gun, launched high into the air to loud cheers. And in a crowd-pleasing moment, one of our kaiako was zipped into a giant plastic bag and vacuum-sealed until it clung tight. A funny and fascinating look at air pressure in action.
Thanks to Tracey Cannon and our Science Department. “The Science Roadshow is a great way to learn new things while having a lot of fun with your friends,” summed up another student. We couldn’t agree more.
