Years 7 to 10 | Parent Information Evening
Thursday 30 July, 6:30pm to 8:00pm | Orewa College
Orewa College warmly invites whānau of Years 7 to 10 to an evening exploring how families can bring balance, caution, and purpose to the digital spaces now woven through everyday life. Grounded in our school value of Manaaki, the session offers practical, real world ways to support our rangatahi.
What we will cover:
- Setting clear boundaries and choosing the right tool for the right job
- Understanding the platforms children use most, and a landscape that shifts fast
- The rise of AI and what to watch for as parents
- Social media and gaming risks, including in game chat and personal information
- Keeping conversations open, and who to turn to when things go wrong
For Year 10 parents
A dedicated focus on harder conversations, including access to pornography and online gambling, with useful conversation starters to take home.
None of us can know every app or platform, but together we can stay aware and keep our tamariki safe. We look forward to seeing you there.
