In 2026, Orewa College celebrates 70 years of learning, friendship and community on the Hibiscus Coast. Since 1956, generations of ākonga have walked through our gates and this year, we're inviting our whole community, past and present, to celebrate the journey with us. To mark the milestone, we're hosting two special events in August 2026: an intimate morning tea for our foundation generation, and a big, free community day for everyone.
Established 1956 · Seventy years of Orewa College.
We warmly invite the people who were here at the very beginning. The Foundation Generation Morning Tea is a chance for our earliest ākonga and kaiako — those who attended in the days of Orewa District High School — to return home, reconnect with old friends, and share the memories that shaped our school's first chapter. Expect good company, a cuppa, and plenty of nostalgia as we honour the foundation generation whose spirit still runs through Orewa College today. If you, or someone you know, attended Orewa College in its early years, we'd love to welcome you home.
Be part of it. Whether you're a former student, a current whānau member, a staff member past or present, or simply part of our wonderful coast community — there's a place for you at OC70. Save the dates, spread the word, and join us as we celebrate 70 years of Orewa College. Nau mai, haere mai. We can't wait to celebrate with you. Keep an eye on our newsletters and social media for the full programme, performance times and event updates.
