Orewa College is proud to recognise Sam Francis as the 2024 recipient of the Matthew Hunt Award. This prestigious honour is awarded annually to a Year 13 student who demonstrates exceptional service, dedication, and integrity—values that defined Constable Matthew Hunt, an Orewa College alumn.
Honouring Service and Integrity
The award was established in memory of Constable Matthew Hunt, who was tragically killed in the line of duty in 2020.
Diane Hunt, Matthew’s mother, gifts this award each year to celebrate students who exemplify his strong moral character.
Recipients are chosen by teachers who knew Matthew and recognise students with similar qualities.
The award includes a $500 prize.
