Chicago dazzles
The recent production of Chicago: The High School Edition at Orewa College was a stunning showcase of student talent, creative collaboration, and community support. Held over five nights from Tuesday 8 April to Saturday 12 April, this ambitious performance brought Broadway energy to Orewa.
Audiences were captivated by powerful lead performances from Victoria Clark as Velma Kelly, Eve Auld as Roxie Hart, and Lachlan Buckley as Billy Flynn. Each actor charisma to their roles, delivering vocals that were met with enthusiastic applause.
Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of staff and alumni worked tirelessly to bring the show to life. The production was directed by Karl Buckley, choreographed by Sarah Postlewaight, and supported by vocal coaching from former student Billie Hart. Staff members Sarah Searle, Becky Hilliar, and Gail Boshard were instrumental in managing the many moving parts of the show, ensuring every performance ran smoothly.
The sense of community extended beyond the stage. OC Alumni & Friends hosted a raffle during the event, raising funds to support future performing arts opportunities at the College. Congratulations to Aleah Blomshield, the lucky winner of the raffle—and a huge thank you to all who entered and donated. Your tautoko ensures our performing arts programme continues to thrive.
He mihi nui to everyone involved in this outstanding show.
