McLaren clinches House eSports victory in high-stakes Super Smash Bros showdown!

Hundreds of ākonga packed into the Orewa Arts & Events Centre for one of the most electric house events of the year. With lights down and two massive screens up, our eSports Super Smash Bros tournament delivered five rounds of high-octane action and fierce house pride.

Each house sent four elite players and one ultimate gamer to compete. The crowd roared with every knockout, turning our school competition into something more like a gaming expo. “It felt like a cross between an arcade and a rave,” said House Leader Joel Dickinson. “The energy was unreal. I needed a sleep afterwards.”

McLaren House rose to the occasion, claiming the overall win with 44 points. 

Current standings are:

• McLaren – 44 points

• Nepia (J) – 44 points

• Batten – 43 points

• Sheppard – 41 points

• Blake (J) – 35 points

Note: (J) indicates houses that played their joker round.

This event not only showcased our students’ gaming talent, but also the strength of house spirit. To all our players, tech crew, and supporters, nga mihi nui!
