Year 11 Japanese students joined Kakehashi, a cultural event at the University of Auckland.
A full day of language, games and kimono at the Kakehashi event
On Tuesday 10 June, our Year 11 Japanese ākonga took part in Kakehashi, an interschool language and culture day hosted at the University of Auckland.
Joining students from six other Auckland kura, our group enjoyed a packed programme of Japanese activities. There was kimono dress-up, a Japanese-style lottery called kujibiki, a QR code challenge, and a trivia quiz all about Japan.
One of the highlights was the authentic bento lunch, which gave students a real taste of Japanese cuisine. Some of our students even took out major prizes in the trivia competition, and everyone left with a gift pack to remember the day.
