Year 12 student shows calm leadership and manaaki during sports injury
During a recent block one sports session, Year 12 ākonga Jordin showed exceptional calm and compassion when a fellow student was seriously injured.
While coaching 8OFD with Zebedee Balsom-Skinner, Tyler Anderson, and James Laird, Jordin kept his cool when a student fractured his arm. He stayed by his side, helped arrange an ice pack, and gently reassured him until help arrived.
“Jordin stayed with the boy, encouraged him, helped to take his mind off the injury, helped to send for an ice pack, and showed real character in quite a serious situation,” said one kaiako.
In a high-pressure moment, Jordin’s actions reflected true manaaki and leadership. His maturity stood out, reminding us all that manaaki is not just about repest but about how we support and care for others.
