Student Levi Gear continues a standout season across MTB, Cyclocross and Road, with international ambitions for 2026.
From the road to the mountain, Levi’s riding into an exciting future
Levi Gear has been on an absolute roll this season, making his mark in mountain biking, cyclocross and road cycling. And he’s only just getting started.
In the Auckland Schools MTB Series (U17), Levi raced in three events, taking three wins and recording the fastest lap times across all age groups. At the Highlander 50km MTB Challenge in Rotorua, he finished 1st in the U17 category and placed 2nd overall, going toe to toe with adult riders.
He also competed in his first ever Cyclocross event at the North Island Schools Champs (U17), where he took the win. This was an especially impressive effort after a few tough weeks recovering from illness. Then, at the NZ Age Group Road Nationals (U17), Levi joined a strong breakaway and crossed the line just 0.3 seconds behind the winner.
Looking ahead, Levi already has his eyes on 2026, when he’ll move into the U19 category and plans to compete internationally. His goals include racing in the UCI Oceania Continental Series, the Oceania Championships in Australia, and a series of races across Europe building towards the World Championships in Italy.
