Blake Takes Top Spot in House Dance Quest 2025

Blake House won this year’s Dance Quest at Orewa College with a bold and eerie performance inspired by nightmares.

Nightmare-themed routine wins big in this year’s Dreamscape challenge

Blake House took out first place in this year’s Dance Quest, capturing the theme “Dreamscape” with a spine-tingling routine that brought schoolyard fears to life.

From freezing up when speaking in front of the class to arriving at school without any clothes, their surreal performance stood out for capturing the "typical" nightmare scenarios felt by student. Year 13 student and house leader Kate Barton led from the front, bringing the anxiety of nightmares to the stage.

Dance Quest, now in its third year, gives ākonga just one and a half days to pull together a full three-minute routine including choreography, music mix, and all. This event is entirely student-led with Performing Arts leadership and full house participation.

Thursday’s packed crowd at the Orewa Arts and Events Centre brought the energy, cheering on all five houses as they performed their routines.
