Visual Art Extension ākonga explore works by Picasso, Van Gogh, and more at Auckland Art Gallery
Our Year 10 Visual Art Extension ākonga spent last Monday surrounded by some of the most celebrated names in art history, during a special trip to Auckland Art Gallery.
Led by a guide, the students toured The Robertson Gift, an extraordinary collection that includes original pieces by Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, and Henri Matisse. The artworks are valued at over $300 million NZD, making it a rare opportunity for students to experience them up close.
The day continued with a self-guided tour of A Century of Modern Art, another standout exhibition that features works by artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Berthe Morisot, and more. This was a hands-on way for our ākonga to explore the evolution of modern art and see firsthand the techniques and styles they study in class.
