Year 12 leaders connect with North Shore schools to explore youth leadership and global citizenship

Year 12 ākonga Kelly Derbyshire-Smith and Maria Taing represented Orewa College at the Global Citizen Leadership Conference, hosted at Takapuna Grammar School on Wednesday.

The one-day event brought together student leaders from across North Shore schools to explore youth leadership, cross-cultural collaboration, and the role of young people as global citizens.

Kelly and Maria took part in a series of workshops and group kōrero, sharing ideas and experiences from their own kura. Much of the discussion focused on how schools can better support international students and create more inclusive learning communities.

They came away with practical ideas and renewed energy for championing international student voice and building stronger relationships across cultures.
