Dance Fest 2025 featured original works and over 300 student performers at Orewa College.
Over 300 performers took the stage, including kapa haka for the first time
Orewa College’s Dance Fest 2025 brought colour, culture, and choreography to the Orewa Arts & Events Centre across two inspiring nights on 22 and 23 August.
More than 300 ākonga took to the stage, from soloists to large ensembles, showing months of hard work and passion. For the first time, kapa haka was part of the event.
Highlights included original Level 3 choreography by Lachlan Buckley, Sarah Postlewaight, and Megan Postlewaight, as well as energetic performances from international students who prepared in just three weeks.
“It was a great way to interact with other dancers from all levels and to showcase the work we spent three terms perfecting,” said student Evangeline Ulugia. Arts Coordinator Becky Hilliar added, “We’re incredibly proud of all their hard work.”
Co-curricular crews Osmic Oscillations and Outcast delivered standout pieces, with Osmic receiving the loudest cheers of the night. Most works also formed part of internal NCEA assessments, adding to the sense of purpose and pride.
