Grapplers Bring Home Medals at Stealth Competition

Orewa College ākonga earn multiple medals at the Stealth Grappling Competition in Auckland across both Gi and No Gi divisions.

Orewa College ākonga made their mark at the Stealth Grappling Competition in Auckland on Saturday 30 August, with five students taking home medals across both Gi and No Gi formats.

Ben-Rugo de Vries led the way with two dominant gold medal performances. Benji Amuimuia added to the success with bronze in Gi and gold in No Gi. Andy Cooper and Alex Kotze each claimed double silver, while Manu Cooper earned two well-deserved bronze medals.

Each athlete took on tough opponents. Their results reflect not only individual skill but also the discipline that comes with regular martial arts training.

The team’s strong results and positive attitude made this a standout event for Orewa College in the growing sport of grappling.
