Referee praises team for their sportsmanship and respect during tournament play
Orewa College’s Premier Girls Football team have earned high praise this week, not just for their performance, but for the way they carry themselves as representatives of our kura.
After officiating their tournament games, a referee reached out to the school to commend the team for their positive attitude. He described the players as “a joy” to referee, highlighting their respectful behaviour throughout.
In a competitive setting, where tension can often rise, the girls stood out for their manaaki. It’s also a reminder that manaaki in sport includes how we respect and uplift those around us.
