Orewa College ākonga Lucas Hyslop has delivered a standout international result, winning Race 2 at the Australian Superbike Series at Phillip Island, Victoria. Racing as a wildcard, Lucas showed up on one of the sport’s most demanding circuits.

Starting down the order, he carved through the field with clean passes and consistent lap times to take the chequered flag. “Hard coming from the back to the front,” Lucas said after the race, highlighting the grit and focus behind the performance.

The result reflects years of disciplined training, strong support from his whānau, and a growing presence on the Australasian racing scene. “Very proud of Lucas,” shared his parents, echoing the pride felt across the kura.

Already looking ahead, Lucas has set his next target. “Same race this time next year, hoping for a top ten placing.” With confidence high and valuable experience at Phillip Island, he has a clear pathway for the season to come.
