New Basketball Hoops Made Possible With Local Support

New basketball hoops installed behind the gym thanks to NZCT and support from local venues including The Wade and Grill House Buffet.

New Zealand Community Trust and local venues back active spaces for ākonga

Thanks to generous financial support from the New Zealand Community Trust and several local venues, Orewa College ākonga now have access to brand new basketball hoops behind the gymnasiums.

The upgraded court space is already proving popular, giving students more room to stay active during breaks and PE. The project was made possible through a community grant from NZCT, with backing from The Stables, Couttas, The Wade, Crown, and Grill House Buffet.

“Our students are so happy with the new basketball court,” said Events Manager Korrina Cracknell. “As our school grows, it’s important to have plenty of spaces for our students to be active. We are so appreciative of the support from New Zealand Community Trust and our local venues.”

The kura is deeply thankful for this partnership, which has created a valuable space for recreation and wellbeing. Properly acknowledging this support helps ensure strong community ties and future opportunities for our ākonga.
