Student-led production of The Breakfast Dub earns praise at OAEC, showcasing creativity.
Senior Drama Club leads full-scale performance with passion
A talented team of ākonga brought Bernard Beckett’s The Breakfast Dub to life last month with a powerful student-led performance at the Orewa Arts and Events Centre.
The Senior Drama Club, created and led by Year 11 students Georgia Sparks, Eva Miseriaux, Chloe Goodall and Christine Cooke, took charge of the entire production, from directing and design to lighting, costumes and set building. The show opened on Thursday 18 September and received high praise from school community.
“This is one of the most enjoyable shows I’ve seen from Orewa College,” shared one audience member.
The cast and crew included ākonga from across year levels: Sarah Bedford, Tayler Bout, Chrystal Chiv, Sasha Gray, Hannah Ilan, Bhavitha Kotra, Eden MacBeth, Zilly Packer, Bhumi Patel, Imi Rademaekers, Samantha Roberts, Varvara Skiteikina and Misha Sur.
The group began working on the show in Term 1, dedicating months of lunchtime rehearsals and after-school sessions to bring their creative vision to life.
