The June Gray Trust has funded 30 Year 8 students from Orewa College to participate in the William Pike Challenge this July.
Support enables more ākonga to take part in the William Pike Challenge
The June Gray trust helped to support around 30 Year 8 ākonga at Orewa College to participate in the William Pike Challenge.
This grant allows students to engage in a hands-on programme designed to build confidence through teamwork and outdoor activities. Programme coordinator Julie Gibson says the impact is far-reaching. “To say that the William Pike Scheme is ‘fun’ is an understatement. It is challenging, you discover new skills or talents, and you learn about teamwork and perseverance.”
The William Pike Challenge encourages holistic learning, helping ākonga connect with their peers and the environment. Orewa College extends its gratitude to the June Gray Trust for their support, which enriches the educational experience for our students.
