The Orewa College Kāhui Ako Hauora team hosted a Year 6 Transition Day for local primary students on 7 November 2025, fostering confidence and excitement for their upcoming Year 7 journey.
Welcoming the future for Year 6 students at Orewa College
On November 7, 2025, Orewa College's Kāhui Ako Hauora team hosted an uplifting Year 6 Transition Day for local primary kura students who will be joining the college next year. The goal was to ensure these future Year 7s feel confident and excited about their new beginning at OC.
Throughout the day, students mingled with peers from different schools, stepping into Year 7 classes and learning alongside senior students who guided and encouraged them. This experience provided a genuine taste of intermediate life. Outdoor activities included energetic challenges where students were assigned to House teams: Blake, Shephard, Nepia, Batten, or McLaren.
The day was filled with laughter and friendly competition as students participated in tug-o-war, a bucket-hat relay, and creative pavement art, embracing the OC house spirit.
By the end of the day, students left with smiles, new friendships, and a stronger sense of belonging. The community eagerly anticipates welcoming them back as Year 7s in 2026. Photo credit: Supplied / Orewa College
