Three week programme supports learning beyond the classroom
Orewa College international students took part in a structured End of Year Programme during Term 4, providing learning opportunities, while their peers sat NCEA examinations.
The programme involved 43 students supported by 10 staff members. Designed and coordinated by the International Department, the programme offered a range of educational activities focused on learning about the local region and experiencing Aotearoa beyond the classroom.
Submitted by Adrienne Croad, the programme was developed to ensure international students remained engaged in meaningful learning during the final weeks of the school year. Activities were scheduled across the three week period, with all costs covered by the International Department.
Students took part in trips and a camp experience, which proved to be a highlight for many. Reflecting on the programme, Johanna from Germany said she enjoyed the variety of experiences on offer. “I loved all the trips especially the camp,” she said.
