Senior players step into key roles as the season begins

Orewa College’s Premier Volleyball team has opened the 2026 season on the court, beginning a new chapter shaped by fresh leadership and renewed confidence.

With last year’s senior leaders having moved on and injuries impacting the previous campaign, this season has seen new players step into important roles within the Premier Volleyball squad. Early matches have focused not only on performance, but confidence across the court.

The transition has created opportunities for growth, particularly for younger athletes now carrying greater responsibility. Team Captain Roman Cardwell has encouraged his teammates to stay grounded in their strengths. “Just keep doing what you’re good at,” he said.

As the season progresses, the focus remains on consistency, and supporting one another through each phase of competition, even if you start in defeat. The foundation laid in these opening games will shape the direction of the 2026 campaign.
