Student podcast opened the new season with a focus on tikanga, school life and recent achievements
Orewa College’s OC Kōrero podcast team recorded its first episode of 2026 in the school podcast studio, D3, bringing together student hosts and special guest Mrs Hilliar.
Hosts Lane Neal, Henry Blakeman, Lee-Lynn De Vries, Deshanji Odera and Alex Lang led a conversation with Mrs Hilliar about the Manaaki system, focusing on the importance of speaking with honesty and care in everyday school life.
The episode also recognised recent achievements across the kura. The Orewa College Senior Girls A Volleyball team opened its season with two straight wins, and Denise Swanepoel represented North Harbour in softball at the Heartland Softball National Championship.
Henry Blakeman reflected on the pressures of jumping year levels, while balancing and moving between classes, while Becky Hilliar highlighted upcoming performing arts events.
Sharon De Vries shared her excitement about the year ahead for the podcast team. “Great start to 2026 for the OC Korero team, we're excited for what's ahead.”
