Student athlete prepares to compete at national softball tournament

Orewa College student Denise Swanepoel has been selected to represent the Northern Bandits Premier Women’s team at the Softball Club Nationals in Wellington.

The national tournament will take place from 11 to 15 March and brings together leading club teams from across Aotearoa to compete for the national title. Selection for a Premier Women’s squad is an important step for developing players, providing opportunities to compete alongside experienced athletes at a higher level of competition. Denise’s inclusion in the Northern Bandits squad reflects her ongoing commitment to training and performance within the sport.

Softball Club Nationals is one of the major events on the domestic calendar, with teams competing across several days of tournament play. For student athletes, national tournaments provide valuable experience while balancing school commitments alongside training and competition.

Denise will join her team in Wellington for the five day tournament and will represent both her club and the wider Hibiscus Coast softball community.
