Orewa College international students visited Muriwai Beach on Tuesday and Thursday this week as part of the NZ Experience programme, taking part in a range of outdoor activities along the west coast.

Students participated in surf lessons, beach volleyball, and group games, with sessions designed to introduce them to local environments and activities. The visit also included a walk to the Muriwai gannet colony, giving students the opportunity to observe the area’s coastal wildlife.

The trip provided a practical way for international students to experience a well-known Aotearoa setting beyond the classroom, with favourable weather supporting a full day of activity at the beach. The NZ Experience programme continues to offer opportunities for students to explore different parts of the region while building connection and confidence during their time in New Zealand.
