Orienteering Sprint Series Concludes with Strong Orewa College Results

Orewa College hosts Auckland Orienteering Sprint Finals, with students achieving podium finishes and top 10 results.

Over 430 competitors gather at Orewa College for the Auckland Sprint Finals.

The Orienteering Sprint Series came to a close on Sunday with the Auckland Finals, bringing together the top 50 competitors from each grade for a two-event competition across two locations.

Orewa College was proud to host one of the final events, welcoming more than 430 participants from schools across Auckland. The day marked the culmination of a five-week series and showcased a high level of skill and determination.

Orewa College students achieved excellent results. Jordan Hefer placed 1st in Year 7 Girls, Oliver McDonald placed 2nd in Year 7 Boys, and Matt Dodds placed 2nd in Year 8 Boys. All three athletes delivered strong performances under pressure. Additional top results came from Cleo Machold, Harper Tipene, and Farrah Sweeney, who each placed within the top 10 in their respective grades.

Teacher in Charge Tristan Williams expressed pride in the team’s efforts, while Julie Gibson acknowledged the achievement, saying, “What an achievement,” and noting, “That’s the Sprint Series done for another year.”
